+ How do IV Drips work?

Intravenous (IV) drips deliver a mix of sterile saline solution, vitamins, electrolytes, and/or medications through a small catheter and tubing directly into your bloodstream. The ingredients are customized and designed to address a variety of health targets.

During your IV procedure, our Physician or Nurse Practitioner inserts an IV catheter into your vein. This IV catheter is attached to a bag of saline, and the bag is then hung above your head on a pole. IV treatment bags are manufactured to allow gravity to infuse the fluid into the veins over time.

The duration of your IV procedure will depend on what IV formula you receive, but typically the infusion takes between 30-60 minutes. Our NAD+ Brain formula takes 3-4 hours to infuse.

+ What ingredients are in an IV Drip?

Skin Bio offers 8 IV Drips which are designed to treat specific health conditions. The ingredients in all of our IV Drips contain a combination of sterile fluids, electrolytes, vitamins, antioxidants, and/or medications to provide a wide range of health benefits. Although the specific ingredients vary from drip to drip, all IV drips have two baseline components:

Sterile Saline solution: A mixture of sodium chloride and water that aids the delivery of vitamins and medications, and hydrates the body.

Vitamins: Organic micronutrients that the body needs in small quantities for proper metabolic function. These essential nutrients cannot be made by your body, which is why these must be obtained through drink, food, or an IV.

+ Why pick IV Therapy versus oral treatments?

Drinks, oral supplements, and/or medications have lower bioavailability than IV drips because they must first travel through your digestive system where they are metabolized before reaching your bloodstream (first pass metabolism). + What are IV Complications?

There is a small risk of infection at the IV site where the needle enters your skin. Other complications of IV therapy are rare. Our Physician is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and will monitor your IV treatment to ensure a safe, comfortable experience. Other rare complications of IV therapy may include:

Infiltration: This is the infusion of fluid and/or medication outside the intravascular space, into the surrounding soft tissue. Small amounts of IV fluid will have little consequence, but certain medications can be toxic to the tissue. Hematoma: This occurs when there is leakage of blood from the vessel into the surrounding tissue. A hematoma can be controlled with direct pressure and will resolve over the course of 2 weeks. Air Embolism: This is a result of air entering the patient's vein via the IV tubing. This can be prevented by making sure that all air bubbles are out of the IV tubing. Our Leur-Lock IV connections minimize this complication. This is an extremely rare complication. Phlebitis and Thrombophlebitis: Phlebitis is inflammation of the vein which occurs due to the pH of the agent being administered through the IV, and thrombophlebitis is inflammation associated with a thrombus. This occurs when an IV has been in place for a prolonged period of time and treatment is warm compresses and anti-inflammatory medication..
